Bogey-Man (also spelled boogyman, bogyman, boogieman, boogey monster) Unleashed

Bogey-Man is a legendary ghost-like monster. The Bogey-Man has no specific appearance and conceptions of the monster can vary drastically even from household to household within the same community; in many cases, he simply has no set appearance in the mind of a child, but is just an amorphous embodiment of terror. Bogey-Man can be used metaphorically to denote a person or thing of which someone has an irrational fear. Parents often say that if their child is naughty, the Boggey-Man  will get them, in an effort to make them behave.WIKI 

In today's world we seem to demand that every situation has a Bogey-Man someplace in the plot line. Preferable a Bogey-Man with deep pockets.

Government Bogey-Men are a well known phenomenon and a evil we all understand and except. Ultimate Bogey-Man is the unnamed, undefined, contumacious, nascent, anonymous (typically refers to a person, and often means that the personal identity, or personally identifiable information of that person is not known) opinionated news media. I would bet a dollar to a donut the first press example that you thought of was Fox News. Spin in the reporting of news has become an art that incorporates news and editorial content into one style.

Although we need an independent free press, that being said, does not say we need a press that spins each story to an editorial standard that satisfies the demands of an ultra conservative owner (notice I said owner and not owners).  Although Keith Rupert Murdoch, AC, KSG American media czar and the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of News Corporation (News Corp.) owns a number of media outlets and dictates the public voice of conservatives and ultra conservatives both here an abroad. His influence is unprecedented in today's media savvy world. His empire has the ability or will have to influence the daily lives of most Americans. He is known simply as the World Media Czar.

His companies (News Corp) control or at least influence what you see and hear daily. In his editorial style there is only good guys and bad guys, no in-between, Bogey man vs saviour.

When asked about President Obama ("lets see if he can walk the walk"). Much of the derision we see in our people and daily lives are directly caused by Mr Murdoch and his minions.
It will be interesting to see coming generations look at these times and ask why would the populace allow any one individual to have that much power and influence and not care.

If we don't stop fearing and start questing to find the answers for are selves then the Bogey man will be out of the closet and the free world we live in will go by the way, just like the buffalo.

Participation, Participant, Health Care

Health Care seems to be the newest DPMB (don't push my button) issue. If you don't agree with my political position on health care then you must be a communist, socialist, Marxist or generally a really bad person. Vote them out, damn liberals, what would Rush say, what we need is Palin and her Tea Party, down with the Democrats they are all sticking together and passing legislation without Republican input, Socialist Democrats are changing our Country, we will repeal this Law of the Land and go back where we were after the current office holders are sent packing (off with their heads) and further gibberish that I have chosen to block from my memory Remember GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) as a symbolic chant.

Health Care Insurance should be mandatory for all Americans. President Obama is not trying to turn us into a Socialist or Marxist nation, (to be absolutely correct we live in a Social Democracy as our form of Government OOPS off topic, another time.) Health Care Bill accomplishes many things all of them are being missed by the majority of the people:

Participation in your own health care is mandatory you must help your self. Health Care says you must take responsibility for your own well being if you don't have the money to pay for it the Government will help. Next step, if you don't have health care, why don't you? You must be willing to help your self first before anyone can help you. President Obama is saying participation is mandatory. All of the junk stories from the Rush's and Palin's of the world about Death Panels for the elderly, no choice of Doctor, long waits and poor care are a lot of bovine excrement. Lots of work to do yet before implementation but it is about growing up and becoming a participant in our form of government.

War as a rule good for...

War as a rule is good for the economy and bad for its people. Some see it as culling while others ignore the loss as inevitable, the cost of attaining prosperity. Price is what we pay with loss and tears to insure a growing economy. Global spending on military issues is 1.46 trillion dollars.This corresponds to 2.4 per cent of world gross domestic product (GDP), or $217 for each person in the world . United States accounts for 41.5% of the global total. Indeed, some $2.4 trillion, or 4.4%, of the global economy “is dependent on violence”, according to the Global Peace Index, referring to “industries that create or manage violence” — or the defense industry.

We believe that the occupation of Iraq has been counter-productive and wrong. It has harmed both the U.S. and Iraqi people, and it has made our world more violent and unsafe.

President Obama stated for the first time his intention to withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq. The President pledged not only to withdraw combat troops by the summer of 2010, but also to bring the rest of our troops home by the end of 2011.


We have struggled since the beginning of the occupation with the role of U.S. forces in Iraq. Our faith and values tell us that military solutions are always wrong, but we also heard the fears of many Iraqis that a chaotic and unilateral withdrawal of troops might further destabilize Iraq and increase the danger to civilians.
I support President Obama's plan for a responsible and complete withdrawal that starts immediately, and we commend his commitment to honor the December 31, 2011 deadline agreed upon in the U.S.-Iraqi bilateral withdrawal agreement signed last year.

I am not only a pacifist but a militant pacifist. I am willing to fight for peace. Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse to go to war.

Who Judges

One point you made resonated with me - regarding how if you feel overwhelmed "the teacher backs off, rather our reactions change and the environment no longer supports the old views." I'm going to reflect more on that perspective. Perception is reality.. The teacher is perceptions "unlocked" Think of this event, teacher, opportunity etc.. as being their invisibly the whole time but you didn't see it. Then you become open to the awareness and now you can see it, define it, use it.
The teacher appearing is in reality a block disappearing, your mind opening to the possibility of its existence. When your in alignment with something you start to see it everywhere, you start to align with what you need to grow. When your ready to become a writer you start to become of writing jobs because now your looking for them, they were their the whole time but you didn't see a writing job you saw a service you didn't need.
To put this concept into perspective, when you have a friend who is obsessing over a model of car you never really noticed before, although their everywhere you never gave it a second thought but now that they have talked about it and you've been to the dealership with them looking at this car in detail you will notice that their are actually a lot of these models in town.
You will see them and realize you never really noticed them before, as if all of a sudden they are everywhere you go. They were always there but now your open to seeing them more clearly, focus is sharpened and now you almost feel like your actively looking for them.
When the student is ready. (basically means when your open to the information, or growth.) The teacher will appear: (This means that you will be able to accept and actively seek out the people, places, and information that will help you towards knowledge and ultimately enlightenment).

Facebook and Other Time Wasters

I found Facebook or should I say Facebook found me. I started getting emails from my family why didn't I join? I did, it is a learning experience.
Social Networking is defined:

"as a social network service focused on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others of like mind. Most social network services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as e-mail and instant messaging services. The main types of social networking services are those which contain category divisions (such as former school-year or classmates), means to connect with friends (usually with self-description pages) and a recommendation system linked to trust."(WIKI)

It can be compared to spending the afternoon with your family with large groups of strangers straining to hear and potentially interact with your small family group. It can go to the other extreme of spending the weekend with your family with nothing to read, see or distraction. It becomes apparent quickly that you didn't really know most family members for a lot of very subtle reasons, untempered by ceaseless, ever evolving, gradually deteriorating level of graciousness and good manners.

Remember you can't pick your family and maybe that's a good thing.

Bromenn Hospital and Tim

I wound up in Bromenn Hospital with another case of Pneumonia and all the joy that goes with it. I noticed a lot of changes; some good, some bad, some inescapable and I suppose inevitable.

As in my other blogged thoughts on Bromenn which are in this blogs archives (older post - Sept, Oct 2008) I will use no names and the reader hopefully will see their selves. Since this is not meant as a critique but rather observations from some one who has nothing to do but observe. We have insurance and the blessing that brings but also allows the observations to be untainted by money issues. If you are in the hospital and paying huge amounts for generic drugs i/e $3.75 for one baby aspirin then knowing your sickness/disease is trickling away your life savings and life equity that you and your spouse had worked hard and saved for has the benefit of adding filial guilt. If you are sick enough you slide into this mind set quite easily. Good friend of mine, who has since passed away from cancer had many discussions on living wills, do not resuscitate, I don't want to live if it is only by machine. Intellectual, medical buffoonery is how these quasi noble discussions and grandiose gestures should be viewed and thought off. He did every treatment that could be done and tried alternatives from cottage cheese and flax oil, purple metal plates, biofeedback, all of which speaks to survival of Homo-sapiens i/e how important is one more week, day , hour of life. This is not meant as a criticism but as an understanding, quintessential observation.

Treatment is really a cooperative of a trinity--the patient, the doctor and the inner doctor. -- Ralph Bircher
