My wife's sister had some surgery Friday, I stopped by the hospital to offer a little moral support to Cindy after sitting all day. We went down to atrium coffee shop which now is a Starbucks. (A quick word on Starbucks coffee, after adding 4 creams which did not lighten the coffee and 4 sugars trying to overcome the bitter taste, I went back to counter and asked if they had any fresh coffee she said we just made this pot, I said it is awful and she said I know but that's all there is you kind of get used to it, I poured my small $2.56 coffee in the trash, why would I want to get used to that awful taste.) A housekeeping staff member heard me ask about the coffee and gave me directions to the employee cafeteria where the good coffee was. While we were sitting in cafeteria a tall attractive nurse came in and I instantly knew who she was the ICU nurse with the stone bracelet (see previous post October), she recognised Cindy first and then me she came over gave me a hug and said hello. Will she ever know how important her excellent skills of course, but also her caring spirit was to my decision to survive and get well. How do you say thank you for all of that she gave, I will pass it on to someone else. (random act of kindness)
If your ever in BroMenn hospital the employee cafeteria is in the basement just follow the signs or the smell of a good cup of coffee.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
