Spice Measurements and Other Vagaries

In my various soup recipes I indicate a lot of spices and use the measurement system of a pinch to a quarters to halves what I mean is pictured above. Take time to click picture to enlarge. If I say use a 10 cents worth of tarragon you would put into your palm, tarragon the size of a dime and the thickness that a pinch would permit. If you try to make to high on the level palm of your hand it will spread out bigger than a dime. Hope this helps and makes sense.
