I was sitting here working on my mail and the call in radio show that is on from 4 to 5 o'clock were asking for comments on Patriot Act. At first it droned on about how we need to be protected from the evil of the world. Then it started to soak in what was being said and I found it hard to believe what I was hearing.
1 If you have nothing to hide why do you care if someone comes in and seizes your intellectual property.
2 We need the police to have unlimited power to protect us
3 We don't need the protection of the constitution
4 We know what's best for you
5 I would rather give up my freedoms than pay attention to the world around me and be willing to protect me and mine.
6 Its, OK to raid my house or work without due process and without being held accountable for that action.
7 If I am accused of a crime that could be construed to be a crime against the US I give up my rights and I will be happy to prove my innocence rather than the other way. As an example if I tear off the tag of a new mattress and sell it that way I would be breaking a federal law all of my personal papers, hard disk at work and at home, would be subject to seizure. Any thing found in the search of my property could be used against me. I would be thrown to the floor with a knee to the back of my head, cuffed, blind folded, whisked off in an unmarked vehicle to an undivulged holding area, where I will be strip searched, body cavity inspection and DNA samples obtained, and left in my skivvies in solitary confinement. I have no right to contact legal counsel or my family. All of my assets in the bank or privately held will be seized and dispersed to the federal government. This includes my savings accounts, my retirement accounts, my life insurance, my bank box I/e anything of value. I am not entitled to a speedy trial in front of a jury of my peers, in fact I am not entitled to any trial. I must be able to remember and prove what I was doing on any given day or night for the last 7 years. I am not entitled to face my accusers in fact I am not allowed to know who my accusers are. The police who have been beating me while screaming quit resisting will have their faces covered by mask. I will be electrocuted with as much as 120,000 volts from a stun gun or chemically burned into unconsciousness. The grand jury who eventually my case will go to will be convened in secret, identities masked, I would not be entitled to speak or see the evidence used against me. I can be exiled from mybeloved country by the stroke of a pen. If after all of this it is discovered that I had torn off a price tag instead of federal ID tag then I will be released back to my life without comment and I must then start the legal process to return my property. I have to have someone take pity on me because I had been fired, all of my assets had been seized and dispersed. I have no place to live because all of my personal belongings had been auctioned off and all personnel papers destroyed or sold at auction. No apology No justification, a 54 dollar check issued when I was released at where ever I was being held that could be in any federal facility in any state.
